Although the design will not be affected by putting the tumbler in the dishwasher, the structural integrity of the tumbler itself will be. After a few times in the dishwasher, this tumbler may no longer be airtight. The insulated airspace that keeps your drink hot or cold will be compromised and lose its efficiency. This is why we highly recommend the tumbler be hand-washed. Handwashing will help preserve the structural integrity of the tumbler, making it last longer.
